Whenever my Lolo and Lola come to visit, they make a Filipino specialty called Turon. Turon is filled with either jackfruit, potato, mango, and my personal favorite, plantains. It is then wrapped in a banana lumpia and fried to perfection. My Lolo and Lola taught me how to make Turon since I was young and now I enjoy making them quite often. However, I enjoy making Turon more when my Lolo and Lola come to visit. It’s special to me when I make Turon because I’m honoring part of my country, the Philippines, which my Lolo, Lola, and their kids had to leave during the 80s.
