Towels Embroidery
Family Embroidery From RussiaMiscellaneous
My object is a Piece of embroidery on a towel. My Great Great Grandma brought the embroidery over to show a future employer her skill at sewing, knitting, and other skills women were taught in Russia. She was very poor and couldn’t bring much so she brought embroideries and clothing. Then left Russia because of the anti Semitism there. The objects came from Russia in the early 1900s. The object was passed down from my Great Great Grandma down to my Great Aunt Linda. She told me about the embroideries that after my Great Great Grandma was a business woman and older, these were her only link to Russia. We remember our Russian heritage from these embroideries. This object is important to me because it is one of the only leftover pieces from Russia. This Embroidery connects to my Russian heritage and to the village that my Great Great Grandma left in 1905.
