Being a family of immigrants, we all needed to work hard. I saw how hard my parents worked, so I didn’t want to make things harder for them by asking for money or things I wanted. In June of 2016, I got my own job at fast- food restaurant. I felt happy when I got my first paycheck. That meant I didn’t need to ask my parents for money to go out with my friends or to buy things I wanted. When I got my first paycheck, I went to a store on Broadway and bought a pair of Nike I had wanted for a long time, I finally had enough money to get them. Whenever I wear these shoes, I want everyone to see them and to know that I was able to pay for them with my own money.
