The Nativity - Tapestry

Nativity Tapestry made by my grandmother

A tapestry is a heavy, handwoven design, historically used for wall hangings, furniture upholstery, and curtains. My grandma likes to sew. She is also a devout Catholic. When her children or grandchildren ask for something unique, she makes it for us. She likes for us to sit and learn to sew, too. My oldest aunt also sews.  She learned from the master, my Grandma. Now that my grandma is 80 years old, it takes her longer to complete one because of her hands. Two Christmases ago, she made one for my brother, and the year after, she made one for my other brother, so this past Christmas, I asked my grandma if she would make me one. She makes them with different colors. This is something that I will treasure forever, because it was made with love.  My grandmother has been making this for quite a while for my aunts and uncles, as a tradition.  So when we saw them for the first time, we all asked if she would make us one? So she began making them again.  We now all have something special that we treasure, made by hand by our Grandmother.
