The Microphone
The microphone is a special object to my family and to my culture and mostly to my great-great-great grandfather. My culture is Guatemalan. I am a a Guatemalan/American. On my Guatemalan side of my family, we are musicians. I sing a lot. I got the voice from my mom and dad. As a family we have a 50-year-old microphone that is very fragile that we cannot touch. It was given by my great-great-great grandfather to my great-great grandfather. He used it when he started singing in Guatemala. Now my grandpa has it in a special type of glass that he has inside in his basement.
The microphone is important to every holiday because we use it when we are singing for the holiday. The most important holiday is New Year's. I have to sing with my bandmates and with my wonderful family. We sing Spanish Christian songs that we also use for church.
I am grateful that the microphone is important because it always reminds me what a good person started this tradition to sing from the heart and follow your precious dream.Thank you, great-great-great grandfather. I love you so much. I wish I could've have met you. Rest in peace.
