The Metate
When l was a child l remember my mother had a Metate.
A metate is a stone tool for rolling grain, seeds, and corn into traditional foods - like tortillas!
l have a lot of memories of my mother using the Metate because she usually used it on special occasions, like birthdays.
My mother would make mole by metate (with her knees bent under her), using the metate to grind all of the ingredients for the mole.
I remember when l was a little and l asked her if l could do it, too. She let me try, but l could not - It was very hard! Doing it this way was a lot of work.
But when my mom cooked the mole, the flavor was delicious! 
In other words, l like the metate because the flavor of the food is the best and it reminds me of my mother and the traditions of Mexico!
