The Marinera
The Marinera is the music and a dance where the man and woman dance together but do not touch. It is also characterized by the use of tissues in the man’s and woman’s hands. During the dance the man and woman are flirting. The dance came from the coast of Peru; It is origin is attributed to a Colonial dance called Zamacueca. When I listen to this music I remember my country because it is the typical music of my country. I heard this music when I was a child. At every school performance, there were always dancers (students) who danced to this music wearing traditional costumes. Now, I feel happy and nostalgic when I listen to this music. It brings me memories of my life in my country when I was a child.
