I see this tree as a representation of Black growth within the U.S. throughout the many discouraging, violent, and dehumanizing features of life my ancestors have faced; there is still a great lineage of positive, defining, solid generations today. When we think about the migration to America for black Americans, we instantly think about the disadvantages and loss of black people, and yes, that can't be forgotten. Still, we should recognize the strength and prosperity of these individuals who could live long enough to tell the stories, pass on their legacy, move to new environments, and see the changes and progress of young black lives. The development is noticed throughout time, so I believe the tree best represents black American growth. This was my grandma's decor; she passed a few years ago, but she was born in the middle of the black journey and lived long enough to see many changes in the relations between black people and America.  Her story and migration, and that of many black Americans like hers, are essential to American history and should be presented more often.
