The Bhagavad Gita
The story I watched was by Maria Arana and her object was her father's wallet.
My object is a photo of the Bhagavad Gita which is a Hindu scripture that provides philosophical guidance to living life through a conversation between Prince Arjun and Lord Krishna. It is a part of the Mahabharta, an ancient epic about a war that occurred between two groups of cousins, the Pandavas and the Kauravas, over a kingdom. This book is special to me because my great grandfather had hand translated it from Hindi to Bengali and passed it down to my father. It was the sole item that my father brought when he left India to immigrate to the United States. My father passed away when I was four and this book is one of the things that connects me to him and the generations before me. To me, it’s not just a memory of my father but also a symbol of living life with honesty and integrity.
