My dad immigrated to America when he was just a few months old in 1983.
He is from a beautiful country in Central America, called Belize. 
One thing I love about my fathers Belizean culture is the music. 
When he arrived to America with my grandma, she brought along music from Belize  on cassette tapes.
Music from her auntie, which is my great grand aunt, Leela Vernon.
All of her songs have the Djembe Drum sound in them. My dad gave me a drum just like the one in the photo with my aunt Leela. 

The drum is the beat of my immigrant ancestry.
