 TIPICAL FOOD IN MY FAMILY
TAMALES

  In my family we have a lot of typical food but in this article I want to share a specific dish called TAMALES. This dish is special for me because my mom used to prepare tamales when she was happy. I remember the last time I was in Cuenca Ecuador, she stared cooking, she looked very happy that she turned on the radio and played typical music of my country, I looked at it as if it was the best work of art and I knew that it was the last time I would see her preparing them because two weeks later I would move to the states. 

  For me the preparation of tamales is a lovely act because you need a lot of time, about 3 to 4 hours and you need a few ingredients; one specific ingredient that is rare to find called achira’s leaves and these other ingredients that are easy to find in your kitchen like corn flour, green olives, chicken, eggs and much love. 

  In my family we believe that giving tamales prepared by oneself is the best gift on any occasion. When my mom comes to New York to visit me, she brings a lot of tamales for my family, I love it.
