Tamales

Group:

Tamales are one of my favorite food. Tamales are mostly made and eaten in winter. This food comes from Mexico and the word “tamale” means wrapped food. There's several different ways tamales are made, one way its with Maza & dough from Nixtamalized corn. The reason why this food is so meaningful to me is because it represents my aunts stores.  We don't really have this food often but when we do it's the best. But above all it does have a lot of meaning from where my family comes from and from where I come from. This very good food is mostly made in special occasions and in Christmas Eve. Although it does take hours to make for a whole family at the end it's still worth making. The type of  tamale that would be my favorite is the chicken and the pork. And either with red or green sauce. I wouldn't say many people would dislike this food because I personally agree that it's really good. It's possible that the Aztecs, Mayans and Incas first developed tamales as a way to keep and carry food made from corn. The tamales became part of rituals and ceremonies, feasts and fiestas. The word tamale, or tamal in Spanish, derives from an Aztec word of the Nahuatl language, tamalli. This great delicious food does have a meaning for me and my family.
