These blouses are from the 1940's.

My family refers to our most important family artifacts as “Candy Blouses”. During the 1940’s, my great aunt wore these beautiful blouses for work, church, and special occasions. The blouses are made from nylon and we have all ten of her blouses. They remind me of taffy and old fashioned ribbon candy. After my great aunt died, the blouses were passed down to my mother, who wore them for special occasions and kept them in perfect shape. One day, whenever I’m older, the blouses will belong to me, and I will respect and cherish them! These blouses are 80 years old and they have the most beautiful buttons I have ever seen. My mother and grandmother feel very connected with these blouses because they belonged to a woman that they both knew and loved. They remind me of Easter because of the light pastel colors and bright, shiny buttons. These blouses connect me to my mother, grandmother, and great aunt. These blouses have been appreciated by each of us, and we recognize the treasures that they truly are. They also connect me to my mother’s love for style, vintage artifacts, and beautiful clothing. I love these blouses, I’m so excited to wear them and appreciate the connection they give me to my great aunt, and to the past.
