This is an important day for all Chinese people. I remember being with my grandparents as a kid in Hubei, China, and my parents and my sister were working in Fuzhou, a 15-hour drive from me, because they could make more money there. When New Year comes, they drive back and start preparing things, such as firecrackers, fireworks, couplets.  Usually we will do a general cleaning to sweep away all the bad luck from the house, and then the grandparents will start preparing the New Year’s Eve dinner.  While eating, we chatted about what happened this year, and then held cups together. At 12 o'clock in the evening, every house starts to set off firecrackers. I lit up the fireworks excitedly, and looking at the fireworks in the sky, I happily made my New Year's wish. The next day, my parents and sister and I drove to pay New Year greetings. This was also my favorite moment. One family after another said Happy New Year. I also received a lot of New Year's money.  The traditional Spring Festival continues like this year after year, passed down from one generation to another. Every household in the brightly lit residential area has posted Spring Festival couplets, and invited the door god and the god of wealth to wish the family happiness and health, and also to express their hopes for the new year. I always look forward to the New Year, because then I can reunite with my family, wear new clothes, collect New Year's money, set off firecrackers, and have New Year's Eve dinner.
