My playlist titled, “r&b girlz,” is my most listened to playlist and features most of my favorite artists. I discovered most of these artists during middle school and I’m familiar with their discography. When I listen to this music, I feel pride in hearing the strength of Black women. This specifically connects to my values as I greatly value the empowerment of Black women in society. The playlist’s title, “r&b girlz,” demonstrates a genre dominated by women like me. The playlist demonstrates my values as it largely exemplifies how the power of Black women to thrive in their respective industries. Because the lyrics of the songs connect to my morals, I’m able to easily acquire the knowledge of the lyrics more so than songs I don’t have a personal connection to. While I in fact listen to these songs pretty regularly, I am still able to credit my knowledge of these songs to my connection to them. There are many other songs that I’ve heard my whole life that I can’t recall the lyrics of because I don’t have the same roots built with those songs. I included this in my exhibition in particular because it is an object of great importance to me. This playlist is a great part of who I am and best showcases how values affect acquisition of knowledge as I’m speaking from personal experience on my own values. I have the greatest knowledge of my own values so there is no better way to convey how values affect knowledge.
