Spatula
My object is a spatula. It is made of wood and only wood, it has no anti-stick coating or anything like that. It is used to stir food around in a pan while it is being cooked. My object fits into the category of foodways because it is a cooking utensil. This object is important to me because my family uses it to cook breakfast almost every day. We usually have eggs for breakfast and this is what it is mainly used for. This object was bought in the United States by my great grandmother from my dad's side of the family. No one really told me this spatula is special. We just use it for almost every meal we cook. Then I was later told that it was handed down by my great grandmother to my dad. I don't know how much use it got before it came to our family but we use it a lot. We don't really reserve this object for special occasions but it is very common that it will be used on a special occasion if we are making food. Last year when we were all trapped in the house for thanksgiving my dad made a really good short rib and we used this to cook it. In conclusion this object is very special to me even though me and my family use it as an everyday item.
