Your Story, Our Story My grandmother, who is an immigrant herself migrated from Venezuela to Miami, Florida. Then she later traveled from Miami to Brooklyn, New York and started a family here. The object that my grandmother brought with her was a small guitar. This guitar was originated in Venezuela but is also used in Puerto Rico and other Spanish countries and other countries in the Caribbean. It is a cultural guitar back in Venezuela and many people play it. This guitar is very small and made out of wood with only four strings. It is very similar in size and shape to the ukulele. This object is important to my culture because of its popularity and many cultural music is made with this instrument. Back in Venezuela, people would play this instrument every Christmas and New Years to give music to the people. The musicians in Venezuela would go house to house playing each family a song for both Christmas and New Years.  My family played the Spanish guitar a lot before I was born but now they do not play it. They played the guitar a lot in Venezuela and played the guitar a lot in America too but the only thing is that they would not go house to house because everyone is from different places. This is important because it shows where I come from and the different traditions my family went through.
