Sister Olivia Painting
I migrated to New Orleans by way of New York, by way of Chicago, by way of the Colorado Rockies, by way of Michigan. I have loved all of those places and I carry a part of them with me, but New Orleans is my soulmate city, filled with my soulmate people. Sherwood Anderson said "New Orleans is surely the most civilized spot in America...The one city in the country where there is time for play of the imagination over the facts of life." Anderson speaks directly to the love I feel for my adopted homeland. This painting by fellow New Orleans artist Sister Olivia Wassmer captures, in the palm of a hand, its colorful magic.
