Sculpture Of Baby Jesus
My name is Silvia Vásquez. I am Roman Catholic. When I lived with my mother, she had three baby Jesus. She made clothes and every year she used to put on the new clothes on the baby Jesus. Every Christmas, my mother used to bring all the three baby Jesus to church to celebrate the birth of Jesus. After church, we went back and put baby Jesus on the altar. My mom made the altar and my sisters and I used to help her. The altar was made out of pines and hay. My mother, sisters and I used to decorate it using lights and included farm animals. After we put the baby Jesus on the altar, we used to sing our traditional songs.
As time passed on I have decided to come to the United States of America for better opportunities and a brighter future. Before, I left to the USA she gave a baby Jesus to me. Since that day until now, I still have the baby Jesus that my mother gave to me. Every time, I see my baby Jesus, I turn very happy because I remember all the happy moments I had with my mom. Since, I grew up with all the Mexican traditions that my mother did and taught me, I have now decided to continue the same traditions with my own family.
