When I was first presented with this assignment, I had no idea what I was going to write about, because quite frankly, my family dates back for so long. My grandma had informed me of this seder plate that used to be my great grandmother’s. This is extremely special to me because I lost my great grandmother a few years ago. We were very close and her death broke me in many ways. Having this plate is special because it is a memory of her and all the times I would spend my Passover’s eating with her with food served off of this very plate. It is my family’s way of connecting to our past that we have yet to find out about. This plate is a reminder that even though she physically isn’t here, there are remnants of her that I still have with me and will always have. As time passes on, I know that when I host my own holiday dinners, I will use this very same seder plate that has been passed on through generations of my family.
