This rosary was one of the few things my mother had as she was traveling from Brazil to America. The whole way her family told her to keep praying because that way God would keep her safe and make sure she was well taken care of. She made it with the rosary and from Texas to Boston she was still praying with the rosary. Religion is a huge thing in Brazil, especially Catholicism, and my family is very religious. She also had a mini Bible with her that's in Portuguese from when she arrived here. She doesn't like to talk about her story but still, I'm happy that I was able to learn something about my family. I also had to learn about the difficulties that came as a result and also the dangers of her and my father's journey. This has inspired her to write a biography about her journey so her descendants could know where they came from and the sacrifices she made.
