My object is my mothers and fathers rings. This object fits into attire, specifically jewelry. This object is made of gold and is worn by me. These rings actually came from the jewelry stores where they grew up. One in Manhattan and the other comes from Dominican Republic. A few months ago my parents gave me these rings because in their eyes I'm very mature and my own person. They weren’t made for me but it is a symbol of honor and respect for me to have their rings. What this means is that, in my identity and culture, having your own jewelry, more specifically gold rings that might have some version of your name on them is a way of showing that you are now your own person and are ready to move on from living with your parents. These ideas are mostly financial related symbols. For my parents to pass down their rings to me is a symbol of good luck. These rings are important to me because they show that my parents believe that big things will come for me. The rings connect me to my identity/culture because it is very common in Hispanic cultures to have some sort of jewelry that belongs to you. Whether it be earrings from when you were a baby or a ring you bought for yourself.
