This is my great great Aunt Ethel Schell and her engagement ring. Her family had been in America for 2 generations when this picture was taken. Her grandparents were Swedish, German, and Irish. She was born in Yonkers NY, and then lived in Bayonne New Jersey, and was a housewife. She liked to paint and crochet. The ring was given to her by her husband Frank when they got engaged in the 1920s. It was hers until her death and then it was given to my grandmother. My grandmother then gave it to my mother in the summer of 1999. My mom plans to pass it on to either me or my sister.
