Religious Bracelet
My family immigrated from 2 different countries. My great grandfather, on my mother's side, was from Spain and he decided to immigrate to Michoacan, Mexico. There he met my great grandmother and had my grandmother. My grandmother was born in Michoacan as well and eventually married and had my mother. When my mom was older, she immigrated from Mexico to Texas when she was 18. My dad's family immigrated from Guatemala to Los Angeles when he was 23 years old. Both my parents eventually migrated to Chicago where they met and got married. My object is a red, string bracelet that my mom bought for me when I was about 10 years old. I wear this object around my wrist or ankle, and in my culture its a religious belief that it is a form of protection from evil. Usually, this bracelet is blessed from a priest and it is a reminder that God is always protecting me. The red string bracelet is important to me because my mom bought it for me and I believe it protects me from curses or evil eye.
