I grew up in Japan with my Japanese mom and my Haitian dad. After I was born in the U.S, I moved to Japan with my two sisters and two brothers, and mom. Both of my parents were DJ's so there was always music playing around my house (mostly Jazz and Hip Hop). They took me to lots of music events where they DJ’d and most of my memories with them was music with it. Because I grew up listening to records and music I started liking being around the music and decided to start dancing. I love when they play music and that’s when I feel most comfortable at home. When I think about my parents, I think about what makes them happy and makes them who they are. And DJing is the thing their passion is about and makes them happy and confident in themselves. Telling this story is important to me because it’s part of my identity and where I come from and how I grew up and also represents my identities as how I was raised and who I am. I hope to continue passing down music culture to my kids.
