In the Dominican Republic when a girl turns fifteen years old, she gets a party called a Quinceañera. She wears a big dress with a crown! When she is about to do the father / daughter dance, the father puts high heels, a necklace, and earrings on his daughter with the crown on. The reasons why he does that is because he is welcoming her to womanhood. She receives this party because when she turns fifteen years old, she’s almost a woman and is taught how to be a mother at home while she goes to school. I wore this crown to my Quinceañera.
