Pysanka
As I grasped the delicate Pysanka egg in my hands, I was sent back to my early childhood in Ukraine. This vibrant black egg with beautiful patterns on it that I made back in 2017, before our family immigrated to America in 2022. I made the Pysanka when I was 7 years old. It has a black background with a beautiful pattern painted on it with wax. The colors are so pretty, with pinks, yellows, and blues. Each design has a special meaning about my Ukrainian culture. Now that I am living in the US, the Pysanka helps me remember where I came from. When I look at it, I think about the stories my grandma used to tell me about it. I can almost hear her voice explaining how to make a Pysanka. The Pysanka is like a little piece of Ukraine that I get to keep with me in America. It makes me feel connected to my home even though I live in a new country now, I'm glad I brought it with me.
