Pointe Shoes
Pointe shoes
Four years ago, I started ballet at 12 years old. The moment I entered the studio it was everything I wanted; growing up I was always fascinated by the dancers who danced so effortlessly across the stage, and the sparkly tutus, music and pointe shoes added to the beauty of it.
Six months into starting ballet I got my first pair of pointe shoes. I remember I was so excited to get my first pair. Growing up only watching the videos of dancers, I never knew how hard it actually was to be able to do what they did.
Taking my first class was so hard; it was almost like taking my first baby steps. It stayed that way for a while. There was so much to learn. Luckily I had teachers who did not give up on me and pushed me to be my best. I started with little to no knowledge compared to now. It makes me realize that things can get better as long as I work hard and put in the time. My mom and my brother are as happy as I am that I get a shot at the dreams that I have had since I was a child. My point shoes are important because now it is part of my art form in order to create the total picture. Being on point is sometimes how I can de-stress from my surroundings and totally forget about the stressors that bother me. Sometimes that can be a bad thing when you’re trying to memorize your dance… but it’s OKAY!
I have come so far with dance, and I am so excited to continue working at what I do.
