The Tradition of Piñatas in Mexico:
We celebrate birthdays and Christmas with a big party but after dinner we break the piñatas outside in the yard. It is the most interesting part of the party. They decorate a clay pot with colored crepe paper. They put chocolate, candies, some fruit, peanuts and small toys into the piñata. We hang the piñata from a branch of a tree. Family and guests line up to participate and they hit the piñata with a stick until it breaks. Then they rush to pick up what has fallen on the ground from the piñata. The person who picks up the most is the winner.
