In Mexico we celebrate more at Christmas, the time when Jose and Maria ask for posada in different houses, when Jesus was going to be born. But now we celebrate children’s birthdays with piñatas filled with candies and fruit. The piñatas are made of cardboard or paper and in different colors. This tradition started in China.  This tradition came to Mexico in 1587.Since then we celebrate our traditions with piñatas on our children's birthdays .However I remember when I was a child my mother bought  a piñata and cake to celebrate my birthday. I was very happy and excited when we went to buy my first piñata. I was 5 years old and I can never forget it. My mom  put candies and fruit and covered us eyes and with a stick I try to break the piñata. I was very happy with my cousins and friends. It was fun to break the piñata and pick up the candy from the floor.Despite not being in Mexico, I have seen people celebrating some parks with piñatas so as not to lose our traditions. It is important that our children know where your parents come from and continue our cultures.
