PILON
My object is from the Dominican Republic. It is called a Pilon. It is made of wood, because before, they only used wood. My Pilon is long and feels hard, because it is made of wood. The Pilon is used to grind coffee. It was given to me by my mother from my grandmother. It is very important to me because it was a gift from my grandmother and is very antique. It has passed through many generations. My Pilon represents my roots, my culture and also where I come from. Coffee is very important for my family, because they drank coffee at lunch. Back in the time when there wasn’t much food for lunch, they drank coffee with bread or with sweet potato. There used to be a lot of poverty in my country. I have it as a decoration in my house, because I do not want to use it; I want to have it as a relic.
