Pierogies
Pierogies is a food from Poland that look like dumplings but polish, you can also stuff them with different stuffings and that includes, mashed potatoes, fried onions, fruits, mushrooms, and sauerkraut. The dough is simply flour, eggs, and water. Pierogies could be bought at a store or handmade and if you want to make them you have to made it in a way. I did this because it reminds me of where my family came from.
First you have to make the dough, form the shape, stuff it with anything (most common thing to put in Pierogies are potatoes or sauerkraut), freeze them for a day so they don’t open up, put them in boiling water praying they don't open, and when they are done put something like sour cream on them. My mom makes them handmade on christmas or easter because those are special holiday and would not mind taking a day and a half making them for those days, but one in a while she buys them. Pierogies are important to my family because they are one of the most important and most cultured foods and a personal favorite. This teaches me that my culture makes a lot.
Questions that people asked me, question 1 “Which is better homemade or store bought?”, I would said homemade is better because store bought (depending on brand you get) they don’t look good nor taste good. Question 2 “how do they taste?” they taste mainly like potatos or the thing that you put inside because the dough is thin.
