Pictures of two weddings

The artifacts I have chosen to help tell the story of my great-grandmother are two pictures of her as a guest in two different weddings as a child. My great-grandmother, Julia Brady Meredith, was the first of her family to be born in the United States in 1916, but the Brady’ came from Magyar, Hungary in 1914. Julia’s father, Istvan, sent for them after nine years of working to afford the money to bring the family over. Her family left from Magyar and processed through Ellis Island on June 4, 1914. When arriving over from Hungary, the name Brady was changed from “Brajdics” so it would be Americanized. The father came over to the states to get financial start because of a recent fluid of Jewish and German immigrants into Magyar.
