This family artifact represents a tragic story, a woman who lost her life and began mine. My mother is the woman in this picture, a person I can’t even remember.  I got this picture when I was 8, and this was the first time I saw what she looked like that I could remember. I kept it with me, thinking it was special, until I realized that you could find it all over the internet when you searched her name. This picture sparked my curiosity in the truth, the past, the lore of my family, and recently, I did learn. I'm glad I did, my questions put to rest. This picture is a gateway to why I am here, and I hope I'll find this person again.
