My Great-Grandmother
My Great-Grandmother

My object is a picture of my great grandmother from Poland. The picture is used to remember my great grandmother. It hangs on my grandparents wall. It is made of paper. This is the only thing that came to America that relates to my family. My family came to America in 1995.
I chose this artifact because it's the only thing we could find. The story is that during the Holocaust people were forced out of their homes, not bringing anything, and that happened to my family. Later (After they came to America)  they got in contact with a friend who had the photo, it taught me how hard it was to be Jewish back then. This is connected to my grandfather and my great-grandmother.  Something else is that two of my grandfather's brothers were killed in the holocaust.
A few questions I have for my ancestors are, how did you contact your friend and how close were you with them, and how long were you in a concentration camp. My final thought is that I wish nobody had to go through what they went through.
