Picture of my Great Great Great Grandma.

In my family, we have an object which has been passed around for a few generations. It’s a portrait of my great, great. Great grandmother and grandfather. It’s been sitting with my uncle for the past few years, but it’s still something for my family to marvel at. Mainly due to the fact that it’s all we have to remember them by, as well as how they we all came to be a family via story. Unlike many, our roots only go back to America; a classic story of an African man working on the fields with a white woman to create our African-American roots. Anything before our southern days remains a mystery truthfully and all we have to give us a sense of our past is a mere few photographs of family ill sadly never get to meet. Not only are the photos aged, they’re printed in black and white! Due to that, we have to rely on each other to tell the next generations our stories, otherwise we will end as we are now; with minimal photos and stories to be remembered by. I wish I could say more, but we only know so much to begin with and intend to put our pictures of family to justice.
