Photobook
“My First Year” photobook is a photobook with four princesses on it. I did not even know this photobook existed until two years ago when I found a whole shoebox in the closet filled with childhood photos of me and my older sister. Growing up I enjoyed browsing childhood photos and videos of my younger self. It gave me a sense of comfort, especially in most of the photos I do not have any recollection of what was happening. Whenever I was bored, I would log into my dad’s computer and look at the “Ally Photos” folder or I would look through “My First Year” photobook. Evey time I looked through the folder or photobook, it made me smile. Not only because I was cute child, but it also made me smile because my parents decided to capture these moments specifically. I always wondered why my parents would capture some moments but no other moments. What was so significant at that moment, that my parents decided to take a picture of it? Looking at these photos boosts my curiosity and imagination. Even though I do not remember what was happening in the photo, I would still envision myself in the moment. Not only does my object have a physical meaning, but it also has a deeper meaning, memories. I want to be able to capture memories with my children. I want my children to know that their lives are worth capturing. Every moment, not only their “firsts” but also those random moments that seem to have no meaning.
