Photo
This is a photo of my great, great grandparents on my Father's maternal side. They are Frank Micari and Frances Trimboli Micari. Frank Micari was born in Middletown, CT a son of Stefano Micari, who was born in Milazzo, Italy on the Island of Sicily in the mid 19th century. Stefano, a seaman and shoemaker, immigrated to Middletown, Connecticut in the late 1800's. At the time, Middletown was a popular destination for skilled Italian workers. Frances was born in Sicily as well but she met Frank in Brooklyn NY, where they were married. They are pictured in front of the home they bought in Southampton, NY in the early 20th century where they became successful restauranteurs and merchants. They are important to me because they are a direct link back to my Italian heritage and, because of them, my family will soon become dual American and Italian citizens.
