This is a recipe from my great grandma. This recipe is called red pozole. You wonder what's pozole. Pozole is a kind of soup. It is different for everyone. We put chicken or pork or sometimes it’s red or white. The chile gives the reddish color, without it, the color is whitish. Another herb used is cilantro. This gives it a zesty flavor. My mother loves using cilantro in all our home made meals. We also add red or white onion to give it a more flavorful taste.Everyone in my family uses this recipe. Sometimes we use this recipe for special days. I use lime to give it a citrus taste. We serve it with white rice or tortillas. The tortillas are warmed and placed in a basket which we wrap up with special Mayan cloth.
