My grandparents came to America during the fascist government in Italy, searching for a better life. Along with their hopes, they brought a pasta recipe that has been passed down through our family. Every other Saturday, my mom and I make this pasta together. As we cook, we are reminded of our Italian heritage. My mom tells me stories about our family. This simple act of making pasta connects us to our ancestors and helps us remember their journey. It’s a way to celebrate our heritage while enjoying a meal that has been part of our family for years. The pasta also motivates me to learn more about Italian heritage.
