Passport
PassportA paper that is signed that means you can travel. Travel across the globe. You think it means nothing until you hear your average american friends talking about going on vacation with their whole family , as you think to yourself “I want to do that to “ So go up to your mom and tell her about how you think it would be fun to go on a family vacation as she looks at you and says”We can not do that” As my eyes would start to get watery I said to her,“But why not all of my classmates do it!” She started to run her fingers down my hair and say “I am an immigrant so I can’t travel” At that moment I looked at her and asked her, “What is it an Immigrant?” she stayed quiet as she thought about what she was going to tell me. She sighs and she says “I am from Mexico and I came to the United States for a better life” I looked back at her and asked her what it meant she looked down and said “I’ll tell you when your older” Now remember what I said at first a passport doesn’t mean anything , Until you realize your parents are immigrants.Which means they can’t get their passport. It matters when you realize you actually like traveling . A little signed paper hits different when you can’t travel with your parents . When you would like to travel the world and share those memorable moments with your parents. Your parents who have sacrificed basically their whole life just so they didn’t have to suffer. This is why I’ve learned to value the little things in life even just a mini notebook that’s says you can travel the word.
