My object is a parol, which is a Christmas decoration originally from the Philippines, and it is shaped like a star and it flashes light. This object represents my family’s cultural identity because my mom’s side of the family hails from the Philippines and my mom immigrated to the United States. My family’s story is unique because not many people here in America are descended from people who were from the Philippines. My family’s story connects to other family stories because we all are relatives of people who immigrated from a foreign country to America to seek better opportunities.
