Pan amasado, cheese empanadas

Story pending

When my father’s parents came to America from Chile, they brought with them their culture through foods such as pan amasado and empanadas. They immigrated to America because they felt they would have better lives here. They bought an apartment in Hialeah, Florida, which is very close to Miami. This is really important to me because if they didn’t move here, I wouldn’t have nearly as good of a life. Chilean food is delicious but unhealthy. The foods they brought were pan amasado and empanadas. Both of these are some of my favorite foods although they are very unhealthy. Empanadas can be either fried or baked. The cheese empanadas are fried while the meat empanadas are normally baked. Pan amasado are a type of bread usually made with shortening and you eat them with a lot of butter. These foods represent my Chilean side because without these foods, I wouldn’t have a connection to my heritage. To make cheese empanadas, you only need cheese, flour, salt, dough, and butter. For meat empanadas, you need flour, salt, butter, eggs, oil, onions, garlic, oregano, cumin, and pepper. Pan amasado is very simple to make; the only ingredients are: flour, butter, salt, water, and dry yeast. These foods have been made very commonly in my house because my father likes to embrace our culture and not leave it in the past.
