Painting
This is a self portrait I painted, it brings me a lot of peace to look at it. Growing up, my parents would take my family camping every year in Big Sur, California. It became a prominent place of my childhood with very fond memories. I chose this as the scene for my self portrait relating it to the backbone of my childhood. I started painting to help me in times of sadness and it's really been helpful for me, so seeing my paintings around my house reminds me of good times and moving forward. My bunny Skipper had to be in my self portrait as my partner and I have had him for about 3 years and he's our sweet baby boy, so he's representing our love as he's watching over me taking a nap. He loves to lay down near us when we go to bed and we call him our little "guard bun". I had to be positioned in the waves because most of my dreams have water in them and has been very symbolic for me.
