This is a Girl Scout bracelet from around the 1950’s. The reason why I picked the bracelet is because Girl Scouts and being a Girl Scout is a big part of my life. I’ve been a Girl Scout for about 8 years now, currently working towards my silver award. The honest answer is that I do not remember how I gained possession of the bracelet but I have two ideas of what it could be. The first one is that it was my great grandmother’s bracelet and after she passed away, we were cleaning out her house and I found it. The other one is that my grandpa found it somewhere and he always seemed to give me Girl Scouts related things, or show them to me. So he would’ve found the bracelet and gave it to me. The bracelet was given to brownie Girl Scouts around the 1950’s. I think the crossing of the band of the bracelet is a very cool detail and that you don’t see all that much of anymore. I’m really glad I remembered this bracelet for this project as it represents a big part of who am I am and what I’ve been doing for longer than I haven’t, its also been the thing I’m probably most dedicated to, the thing I’ve been apart of for a while and plan to stay in it for years to come.
