Our Lady of Guadalupe
My family don't have a photo of an object during their immigration journey because during that time there were no iPhone, only flip phones. I can share a photo from google of Our Lady of Guadalupe. My family throughout their journey carried some Mexican pesos because at the U.S border it was still permitted to use Mexican peso to buy food or water during the route. It was a challenging journey for my family and sometimes there was not enough water to drink because they walked so many miles in hot weather. Mexican pesos were valuable for my family during their journey. Also religion and praying was very important to stay protected during their route. They would believe in Our Lady of Guadalupe that would protect them. Backpacks were important because they brought their water bottles, canned foods and sweaters inside to keep warmth during the night. Because there was not a supermarket near for them to buy food. Their route was also dangerous because they had to walk for long hours and sometimes there were snakes, scorpions, bears and dangerous animals. This is something powerful and courageous from my family because they were very young and brave to settle in the U.S. They knew that they had to come to the U.S to get job opportunities and make money.
