Our Lady of Guadalupe is a cloak that has the image of her imprinted on it. The original one is in the basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. Before the first church closed down it was the first church made in Tepeyac. Then the Cloak was moved to the church in Mexico City which is visited by many people. December 12 is celebrated as the day to give thanks to her for helping us with protection or of what might be impossible. In Mexico City it is celebrated by singing, praying and doing masses all day. My parents both immigrated to the United States from Mexico when they were young adults. They both are from the same culture, most Latino people have practiced this culture by praying for protection or for help to do something impossible that they need or want to do. When my mom was traveling to the United States she kept praying to the saint to help her achieve this journey and to be safe when traveling across the border to America. She was told that it was a dangerous journey but besides that thanks to the saint during her journey, she was never in danger. She felt protected by our lady of Guadalupe and she came to the United States safely. In my culture, I have been taught and I have learned what many saints do but for the reason hearing, many stories of her from people saying that she will help you out and protect you and hearing my mom's story when she immigrated to the United States makes me believe in her more than other saints that I have heard few stories.
