The photo I provided is from a friend's mom who immigrated to the U.S. with her mom. She was born in Vientiane, Laos. Her mom used to live in a village but it had gotten burned down. They got bombed and everyone from her village had to escape from being killed by the communist and so they went to a refugee camp in Thailand in the 1980s. It was known to them as the Silent War. After that, they decided it would be best for them to immigrate to the U.S. They did have their struggles coming into the U.S. especially because her mom did not know English so it was hard to find work and make a living but she did her best to provide for her family.
