old photo
Everyone has a special something to share with everyone. That something can also determine who they are and how they are here. My family artifact that I'm going to be sharing with you is an old photo of my grandma and my mom. Both of them are very special to me and they are the reason why I'm here. This photo speaks to me! It evokes in me about my history and my life that I have left in my country, Uzbekistan. The photo tells me not to forget your human figure and always remember where you come from. In 2014 september, my mom had won green card and came to Brooklyn, New York. And of course there is more to this story. Opportunities were the magnet that pulled almost everyone to America. But without struggles and conflicts no one would seek for better opportunities. The country itself is like the broom the forces people to sweep away from the country. My country wasn’t the land that people would want to fight with. The place wasn't stable or well enough to find money. If your own people in your own country hurts you who would like to live there. For instance in June 2nd 2006, if my father hasn’t divorced with my mom because of my gender after my birth, my mom wouldn't have to seek for any job or struggle. But before that there was no one to raise my mom’s family because the leader, my mom’s dad, had passed away a long time ago and left every responsibility to raise 4 kids to my grandma. Both my mom and grandma are such a resilient woman who everyone including me looks upon. Now that my grandma had passed away a year ago it’s my mom’s responsibility to raise the whole family.
