New York City bus pass

Growing up I would take the M104, M7, or M11 busses to school. This bus pass, my first one, and later tokens, and then MetroCards gave me a sense of freedom and confidence: I knew how to navigate the intricate subway and bus lines at a young age, and was later proud to show my college friends around my “hometown” with ease.  New York’s subways and busses encapsulate the pace, diversity, and freedom the city allows. Today, riding the CTA in Chicago, I often recollect, and bemoan, the slow pace of the trains.  Despite being out of New York for over fifteen years, the speed and efficiency of those subways and busses is still something I miss and seek after in my new home.
